The Artist
Botanical obsession, sculpted by hand.
Shakim Cooper began sculpting carnivorous plants out of a fascination with their quiet violence — the way a Venus flytrap or pitcher plant can be both delicate and predatory. Working out of his studio in Atlanta, Georgia, he blends traditional sculpture techniques with resin, metal, and hand-finished paint to create pieces that feel alive.
Every sculpture starts as a sketch, moves through a raw armature and clay study, and ends in weeks of detail work — vein by vein, layer by layer — until the piece looks ready to snap shut.
